Update to Ward Boundary Review Materials – May 2026

May 13, 2026

As part of the ongoing Ward Boundary and Council Composition Review, we want to share an important clarification regarding previously released materials.

What happened?

Some of the materials shared earlier in the review process were prepared using a ward boundary file that was provided by the municipality for planning purposes. While commonly used, this file does not exactly match the official ward boundary, which dates back to municipal amalgamation and follows the former municipalities' boundaries.

Once this difference was identified, the project team updated the analysis to reflect the correct ward boundary.

What does this mean?

  • The correction affects only the boundary line between the municipality’s two wards.
  • Because of this adjustment, ward population numbers have changed slightly — by about 35 people in both 2025 and 2035.
  • There is no expected population growth in the affected area.

What does not change:

This update does not affect:

  • Any of the preliminary ward configuration options that were shared
  • The information presented in the Interim Report
  • Feedback collected during public engagement
  • The overall findings or direction of the review

All options and information previously presented remain valid.

Revised materials

For transparency, the following materials have been updated using the correct ward boundary and are now available:

These revised versions replace earlier ones.

What’s next?

The project team is continuing work on the Final Report using the corrected information. This update does not affect the project timeline.

Thank you for your interest in the Ward Boundary and Council Composition Review. Sharing accurate information is important to us, and we appreciate your understanding.
